This 1944 scalloped (last year) braced D-18 was purchased by a Navy man in San Diego before departing to the Pacific to fight World War II. He and it survived multiple Kamikaze attacks before returning home. He became a semi-professional bluegrass and country musician, going so far as being offered a spot in the Grand Ole Opry house band- but turned it down to stay in small town Arkansas.
