1939 Gibson Recording King Ray Whitley Rosewood

SOLD

Just in- an extraordinarily rare Gibson made Ray Whitley model with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. In only two total years of production, 180 of these guitars were made. These are the subject of much lore and have been written about extensively in various books as well Vintage Guitar Magazine. Many dealers and collectors never see one of these in person in their entire lives. We have been fortunate to have three of them and this example is in by far the best condition. Absolutely zero changed parts and no finish work make this a jaw dropping instrument. These were constructed by hand at Gibson to the highest specifications including Adirondack top and scalloped x bracing. This will be a crown jewel of any collection and indeed a worthy investment. But more than that- this is a superb sounding guitar that absolutely sings. You will find no finer Brazilian rosewood on any pre war guitar, regardless of brand.
